The first golf course in the Costa Brava

Located on the farmland of Arenals de Mar, on dunes covered by an immense pine forest planted seventy years ago, Golf Platja de Pals was an idea created at the beginning of the seventies by Baltasar Parera Vilar and his wife Doña Rosa Coll Llach, who provided the land necessary as well as the construction of the first nine holes and the clubhouse, as well as the necessary maintenance equipment.

CLUB DE GOLF D'ARO - MAS NOU (Platja d'Aro) is one of the oldest golf courses of the Costa Brava. This club is situated in "Les Gaverres" mountains, at 300m above sea level with spectacular panoramic views of the Costa Brava.
The course is surrounded by spieces of cork oaks and more then thousand olives trees.
Two artificial lakes (2600m) complete the unique course charm.

The Costa Brava Golf Club, established in 1962, was designed by Hamilton Stutt and recently expanded with extra 9 Holes by Mr Jorge Soler Peix and Mr. Eugenio Aguado. It has 27 holes, with 2 rounds of Par 70 and Par 73, integrated in a beautiful natural landscape with an exceptional beauty.
This magnificent Course, with century trees, is located in the Santa Cristina d'Aro, surrounded by mountains, all together it makes a privileged area because of its weather and environment.
 

This spectacular and imposing course has been consistently ranked among the best ten golf courses in Europe since it was opened in 1999 and was recently voted number 77 in the world, number 3 in continental Europe and also number1 in Spain. As the venue for numerous PGA European Circuit tournaments, it is also routinely singled out for praise from the professional playing fraternity.

For a slightly less stern challenge than the Stadium Course, turn to the equally beautiful but kinder Tour Course. Dominated by pine trees and lakes, the course is shorter and a little less difficult to play than the Stadium Course, yet the Ángel Gallardo and Neil Coles design ensures that it remains a challenge for every level of player.

Most of the holes feature wide fairways and strategically placed bunkers, which can be forgiving of a less than perfect shot. Another feature sure to focus the mind is that it seems you are never far from a water hazard.

The first nine holes are very competitive, and require the use of every club in the bag. The next nine holes are spectacular, as all tees are placed on walls built with Girona stone.
